Welcome, Future Founder!
Every year, entrepreneurs and small business owners apply for grants to help launch or grow their businesses. These applications often ask similar questions about your business idea, your goals, your budget, and the impact you hope to make in your community.
As part of Hustle 101, you'll complete a Grant Application Simulation using your own business idea. This is a learning activity designed to introduce you to the grant application process and help you practice communicating your vision like a real entrepreneur.
Please note: This is a simulation only. No real funding will be awarded through this application. Instead, the CitiLife Development review team will evaluate each submission as if it were a real grant proposal. Applications will be scored based on how clearly and convincingly you present your idea, how realistic your responses are, and how well you explain the positive impact your business could have.
Think of this as your opportunity to practice before applying for real grants in the future. Take your time, answer thoughtfully, and show us why your hustle deserves to stand out!
Let's WORK!
What Is a Scoring Rubric?
A scoring rubric is a guide that reviewers use to evaluate every application fairly. It explains exactly what they're looking for and how many points each section is worth.
Think of it as your success checklist. Before you submit your application, compare your answers to the rubric to see if you've clearly explained your business idea, your community impact, and why your venture deserves support.
Pro Tip: Great entrepreneurs don't guess what reviewers want—they use the rubric to make their applications stronger before they hit Submit.
